Apparatus Fund Raffle - Update
Thursday, 24 December 2009 23:47

UPDATE: 02/02/2010 - We continue to get closer to the 500th ticket.  We appreciate everyone's support and understanding.

We would like to say THANK YOU to all who have supported the department by purchasing a Raffle Ticket to benefit the Apparatus Fund.  Due to the struggling economic times and the recent adverse weather, we have not met the required minimum sales to hold the drawing.  Once the 500th ticket has been sold and submitted, we will hold all 18 drawings.  Please check back here weekly for an update.

REMINDER: Tickets are still available for sale from any member of the department or online via PAYPAL at our Online Store.  Thank you all for your support and GOOD LUCK.

CHANGE YOUR CLOCK – CHANGE YOUR BATTERY!!!
Monday, 08 March 2010 21:13

With the arrival of spring, it will soon be time to change your clocks to coincide with Daylight Saving Time. The Riverdale Fire Department wants to remind our citizens and residents that it also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector. The Fire Department knows all too well the importance of home fire safety. We urge you to change the batteries in every smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector in your home. On Sunday morning, March 14, 2010, when you move your clocks forward…

CHANGE YOUR CLOCK – CHANGE YOUR BATTERY!!!

RIVERDALE APPARATUS
Monday, 01 March 2010 22:32

These pictures, taken over the weekend of February 27, 2010, of the Riverdale Fire Department's apparatus fleet is a testament to the dedication that the VOLUNTEERS put in day after day.  It has been about ten (10) years since the bays were all filled with apparatus wholely owned by the department.

This accomplishment was made possible by each and every member of the department, and they all should be very proud of the accomplishment that we as a department have been able to achieve.

The only thing I can says is THANK YOU!!

Steve Lamphier, President

Once again the Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department stepped up to the plate to help out another fire department. We learned Friday evening that neither Engine 72 nor Engine 73 was going to be ready for service until sometime on Monday. After checking with the county for the availability of a reserve engine, of which there was none, the call was placed to Bladensburg to inquire about borrowing an engine for the weekend.

Without hesitation Bladensburg loaned us an engine. While it is not unusual for one department to loan out a third engine to another department to keep them in service, Bladensburg only had two engines and a truck in service at the time and were running all three fully staffed.  The Bladensburg Volunteers gave up Engine 93 so that we were able to provide an engine company to our community.

To the Chief and members of the Bladensburg Fire Department we thank you again and if there is anything that Riverdale can ever assist you with, please do not hesitate to call.
