Engine 72 Operates On College Park 5 Alarm Fire

April 24th, 2017 - Approximately 1030 hours Engine Company 807 was dispatched as the 1st due engine company for a reported fire in an apartment building under construction in Company 812's first due. During response company was rolled back to second due engine company when Engine Company 812 was added to the box. Communication advised units during response that supplements advised fire was showing from the structure. Engine company 807 arrived on scene with fire showing from the 5th floor. Upon arrival crews advanced a stand pipe rack to the 5th floor and backed up Engine Company 812 on the fire floor. Crews were met with heavy fire in apartment and initial fire was knocked down however fire spread quickly to the 6th floor and roof area due to fire load and open electrical chases. Engine Company 7 then deployed line to the 6 floor to control fire spread before being evacuated per command due to poor roof conditions. Crews remained on location for approximately 9 hours assisting with water supply and master stream operations.

 

 

   

 
Engine Company Responds on Company 55 Working Apartment Fire

April 19th, 2017 - Engine company 807 was dispatched for a reported apartment fire in Company 855's first due. Engine 855 arrived with nothing showing upon arrival but through investigation found a working fire on the terrace level of the apartment build and called for the working fire dispatch. Engine 807B arrived on location and per the running order established the RIT group on location on Side Alpha of the structure. Crews remained on location for approximately 45 minutes prior to command placing the company in service.

 

  

 
Engine 72 Attends Funeral Services For Rick Gentilcore

April 12th, 2017 - The volunteers attending the Funeral Services for Rick Gentilcore. Rick was a past member of Riverdale. Rick while on duty at Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services was found passed away at the Burtonsville Station. Rick was a tremendous firefighter and a wealth of knowledge to those that had the pleasure of knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and his coworkers. May you rest in peace sir.

 

 

 
Engine and Ambuance Stand By For Local 5k

April 8th, 2017 -  The Engine and Ambulance Companies were requested to stand by for a fundraiser 5k for the Town of University Park. The volunteers on location stood by approximately 4 hours while the runners ran and raised funds for their cause. We always appreciate helping out our community and appreciate the Town of University park for including us in the events and look forward to assisting more with these events.

 

 
Engine Company Runs Co. 1 Basement Fire

April 5th, 2017 - Approximately 1600 hours the Engine Company clearing from an public service call were alerted to respond to Rosemary Lane in Company 801's (Hyattsville) for a reported house fire. While enroute companies were notified by Public Safety Communications that neighbors reported smoke coming from the basement division and were unable to contact the homeowners. Engine Company 801 arrived taking their own hydrant with smoke showing from the Bravo/Charlie corner of the dwelling. The volunteers from the Engine Company arrived and using a line from Engine 801 and operated on the first floor of the dwelling. Crews worked with Truck 812 wetting down the extension and hot spots on division 1. Truck crews found no occupants during the searches. Crews also assisted with ventilation operations on the floor as well. The Engine Company operated for roughly an hour on scene.
