It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Life Member and Past Chief James L. McGill.

Chief McGill began his volunteer service with the Riverdale Fire Department on May 15, 1973 at the age of 16.  Chief McGill progressed through the ranks and severed as Chief of the Department from 1981 until 1986.

Having served the department for over 10 years, Chief McGill was honored with Life Membership.  Realizing a need at our neighboring department, Chief McGill transferred to the Riverdale Heights Volunteer Fire Department where he held the rank of Assistant Chief.  Not long after, family commitments required a move to more pleasant climates and he relocated to South Carolina.

Our prayers and sympathy go out to his family and friends.
