Following a busy night/morning that included a first due working garage fire, Engine 73 was dispatched as the 4th due engine on a reported apartment fire at 4313 57th Avenue in company 9's area. Initial returns from Engine 809 were nothing evident, followed shortly with a report of a working fire on the second floor. Engine 73 took position on side Charlie of the building and secured their own water supply as the 3rd due engine had not arrived on scene. Command advised that with the exception of specified unit,s all other units were to remain staged. The crew of three quickly advanced the 400' line to the terrace level apartment and awaited further instruction from command. The fire, which started in the kitchen, did not spread any further than the initial fire apartment and command quickly released units that were not directly involved in that apartment. After packing up, the crew headed back to quarters for some much needed sleep.
