On Tuesday October 9, 2012 the members staffing the department for the day shift took time out of the day to attend the Riverdale Elementary for fire prevention week. The Engine and Ambulance crew loaded up and surprised the students of the kindergarten class. The crews talked about the difference between good and bad fires, making sure that there are smoke detectors in their home, what to do if it sounds, the number to 911, and they got to see the friendly fireman. Before we left each class they were given homework from the fire department. They were asked to go home and to learn their address and to assign a meeting place in the event of a fire.
