The officers and members of the Riverdale Fire Department send out our best wishes and prayers to our brother firefighters from West Lanham Hills that were involved in a serious accident today on the Capital Beltway (I-495).  While returning from another call on the beltway, Engine 281 was struck in the rear by a tractor trailer causing the engine to crash into the center jersey wall and overturn. The four volunteers on Engine 281 were transported to PG Trauma where one was later transferred to Union Memorial in Baltimore, a center that specialized in limb trauma.  The remaining three, according to West Lanham Hills website have been released.

We wish all a speedy recovery from their injuries and continue to keep them in our prayers.
